In telc B1 Teil 3 you plan something with your partner — a farewell party, a weekend trip, helping a friend move. Examiners grade cooperation: make suggestions, respond to your partner's ideas, disagree politely with alternatives, and end with a concrete decision (what, when, where, who). The phrase tables below cover every move.
The task and its shape
You get a situation card, for example: „Eine Kollegin zieht um. Planen Sie zusammen, wie Sie ihr helfen können.“ A strong dialogue moves through four stages:
- Open — name the goal together.
- Suggest & react — ideas back and forth, at least one polite disagreement.
- Negotiate details — when, where, who brings what.
- Decide & close — summarize the plan.
The same task type appears in the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 (Teil 1) and the DTZ, so these phrases pay off whichever B1 exam you take — relevant if you're choosing between certificates for citizenship.

A 30-second example skeleton
„Du, unsere Kollegin Maria zieht nächste Woche um. Wie wäre es, wenn wir ihr am Samstag helfen? — Das ist eine gute Idee, aber am Samstagvormittag arbeite ich. Ich fände es besser, wenn wir am Nachmittag helfen. — Einverstanden. Ich schlage vor, dass ich mein Auto mitbringe, und du fragst, ob wir Kartons brauchen. — Alles klar, dann machen wir das so.“
Every bolded phrase comes from the tables above. Notice the one disagreement with an alternative — that's the move examiners want to hear.
Plan with an AI partner that pushes back
Reading Redemittel is not the same as producing them under pressure. In ZertFox's B1 Teil 3 practice:
- Pick a planning situation — the app has a long list, from parties to moving days.
- The AI partner suggests, agrees and disagrees, so you must actually negotiate.
- Steer the dialogue to a concrete decision, just like the exam requires.
- Replay the session and check which Redemittel you actually used — then run it again with new ones.
Frequently asked questions
What situations come up in Teil 3?
Everyday planning: a colleague's farewell gift, a birthday party, a weekend trip, helping someone move, organizing a course dinner. The vocabulary is everyday German — the challenge is the interaction.
How long does the planning dialogue last?
Around five to six minutes. If you decide everything in one minute, examiners will wait — so explore options before settling.
